The original slasher, the one that set the bar for every other slasher to follow. Halloween relies on suspense, a musical score, plot and a psycho who is pure evil. This is the perfect horror movie.
This is a quote from a Halloween fan.
…
Emphasis on evil.
…
It’s not just evil, but eeeeevil, man. Hey far out.

Anyway, this movie was made in the late seventies. I’m not quite sure what to make of it. In the very beginning it showed a kid who murdered his sister on Halloween night. After that, I was treated to a very slow moving plot. Occasionally the kid possessed by pure evil, not just evil, but eeeeevil, is shown grown up, and slowly staring at his victims. Yes, this is creepy, but nothing happens during the course of nearly an hour, save for one strangling. I started to lose hope for this movie very fast. The opening murder obviously looks fake, very fake actually. This movie is meant to come off as real, except for the pure evil, not just evil, but eeeeevil.
Stop for a minute. Why the eeeeevil? They placed emphasis on it throughout the movie. This movie was starting to remind me heavily of the Exorcist. Maybe back in a happy go lucky world where everyone had their doubts, but firmly had faith in Good vs. Evil, this movie might have made an impact. I’ve seen far worse.
This movie is about a quiet suburb, and a serial killer who is on the loose. It relies heavily on the plot, which to me feels like a bunch of fluff and filler. I had to stop watching I was getting so bored.
Others may feel different. I need my movies to have some oomph to them, otherwise they’re boring. I watch movies to alleviate boredom, not induce it. Halloween, none the less, isn’t a bad movie. I actually liked it in some parts.
