George Carlin is argued as one of the top two best comedians alive. I know the man is absolutely hilarious, while serving a helping of reality. George Carlin’s methods revolve around trying to figure out what is wrong with things, and making them funny. Carlin also specializes in plays on words and how to acts and dance around them (he does this up on stage). Carlin’s earlier works are a bit more humble, if not crude. He finally explodes on the scene with his seven dirty words list. Why seven words? He looked for something filthy, vulgar, rude, crude, risky… well, you’ll have to see his act to know.
During his prime, he had some very hilarious acts. Sad thing is most of them were true. I just hope anyone watching his HBO specials has thought about and formed their own opinion before accepting his as golden truth. A lot of what he says is true, but it should still be taken with a grain of salt.
Sadly, Carlin’s work starts to become morbid as he talks about politics (indirectly), the worst of the world, and what is in the news at the time. His last act, Life is Worth Losing, wreaked of Carlin, but it didn’t feel the same. He was more blunt and to the point.
Carlin’s specials are worth watching though.
