Played in the PC or console scene, and you’ll have heard of Doom. Back in the day it was one of the first fps (first person shooters), and they managed to pull it off even on a console. Graphics take a huge hit compared to the PC counterpart sadly. Graphics look very grainy, but that can be expected considering many of them are scaled. Many of the items aren’t anything special to look at either. The same music continues to play and loop over and over. It may great at the ears after awhile. The sound? Nadda, not so great. Is there a frameskip? More like things are not rendered past what the human eye can notice.
But this is not where Doom shines, not by a long shot. This game is awesome for the pure gameplay, which survives even in a port. You run around shooting things and try to survive. Look around that corner and you may very well find yourself staring down a gun. Is your gun strong enough? Out of ammo? Switch to the tested and true punch. Or… is that a shotgun? Payback time! This game is purely about action and survival.
There is supposedly a plot, which I read from another review. You are a lone space marine on a lone moon. Something has invaded and its your job to find out what.
You can give this one a go if you don’t have access to the PC port, but the PC version is far superior.
